The Orthopedics B Department at Hillel Yaffe Medical Center excels in many fields of orthopedic surgery and performs thousands of surgeries each year, including joint replacements, orthopedic trauma, treatment of sports injuries, repair of foot deformities and advanced treatment of diabetic foot.
Additionally, the department offers innovative regenerative medicine treatment such as platelet-rich plasma (PRP) and stem cells to treat various orthopedic pathologies.
The department provides training in orthopedics to a large number of residents from Israel and worldwide, through a six-year program designed for young physicians and recognized by the Israeli Scientific Council. The department is engaged in research and academia, and trains numerous medical students from the Technion – Israel Institute of Technology.
Surgeries and treatments performed by the department
Joint replacement surgeries
The department is a center of excellence for hip and knee replacement surgeries, including surgeries performed through a modern approach, using the world’s most advanced equipment.
Arthroscopic and sports-related surgeries
With sports injuries, it is essential to provide a precise diagnosis of the problem and a solution that will facilitate a rapid return to activity. A large part of the work done by the Sports Unit is done on an outpatient basis, and surgical healing is generally quick. The most common treatments and surgeries performed by the unit include knee arthroscopy, meniscus repair, ACL reconstruction surgery, cartilage repair and more.
Trauma surgeries
The surgeries include reconstruction and fixation of long bone fractures, joints and complex external fixation devices.
Foot surgeries
Surgeries include repairs of congenital and acquired deformities, including bunions, hammer toe, mallet toe and forefoot reconstruction, ankle arthroscopies, fixations in the foot and ankle, treatment of diabetic food and treatment of foot and ankle traumas.
Hip Preservation Service
Service Head: Dr. Lior Laver The service includes diagnosis by a hip preservation specialist, comprehensive assessment according to the patient’s complaints, a physical exam that includes specific tests and imaging to identify all the possible causes of pain. Additionally, the service includes treatment of developmental hip issues.
