The Infectious Diseases and Infection Control Units provide clinical consultations for inpatients who have infectious diseases, are engaged in prevention of cross-infections, control and monitor infections caused by stable pathogens, train and oversee proper and prudent use of antibiotics and advise hospital management on health care-associated infection, biological events and preventive medicine. In addition to the treatment of inpatients, the unit operates the Pediatric Infectious Disease Clinic.
Furthermore, the unit staff is involved in preventing the transmission of health care-associated infections, including the writing and implementation of related policies, training the clinical staff, performing controls in departments, collecting information, monitoring and following up on antibiotic-resistant bacteria at the hospital, investigating outbreaks and taking systematic action to minimize health care-associated infections at the hospital.
Additionally, the unit is engaged in medical research on microbiology, infectious diseases and infection control.
