He got a gift for Chanukah: his life

Two days ago a surfer in his 40’s arrived at the Hillel Yaffe Medical Center who was pulled out of the water in critical condition. He was treated in the emergency room and was transferred in critical condition to the general intensive care unit. For two days he received resuscitative and protective hypothermia treatment, while receiving medication for brain resuscitation. After 48 hours it was decided that attempts would be made to gradually bring him to consciousness, as is customary in such cases. To the delight of the team, the man regained consciousness and began to respond to his surroundings. It appears that he is not suffering from any brain damage at the moment.  

Dr. Moni Litmanovich, the director of the general intensive care unit: “The man was pulled out of the water in a state of clouded consciousness and received continued attempts at resuscitation by the MDA team. He arrived in critical condition to the hospital and received specific treatment in order to stabilize his mental condition, considering the fact that no serious physical injuries were detected. I am very happy that the treatment was successful, and that his family has got him back. Undoubtedly, the timing , during the Chanukah holiday, causes one to think of miracles, but as I see it this is mainly a case of great medical efforts, with an outcome that brings a smile to all of our faces.”

The man is still hospitalized in the general intensive care unit, but in light of his positive condition, he will soon be transferred to another internal unit for the remainder of his hospital stay.
